This year I’ve thought a lot about what direction to move the photography business. It’s a struggle because I have such a passion for photography but being a Mom of a 3 and 5 year old and the responsibilities of running a business can be very difficult. One way I thought to expand the horizons is by entering contests but that’s just another task on the constantly growing “to do” list. The following images were submitted for national level contests (ok, I added a couple of my kids!). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I had the opportunity to photograph Nicole. Nicole has a spirit that is genuine and more valuable than gold. From the moment she walked into the studio I knew that our time together would be special and that we would have a blast during her shoot. She wanted updated head shots for her acting career. I had taken her sister, Amy’s, senior pictures last year so when it came time for her to have some shots done for herself she contacted us!
Brooke has such an adorable personality. I had the opportunity to photograph her at her junior prom and now for her senior session. I love how simple and genuine she is, yet strikingly beautiful and full of joy! Enjoy these images, I do!
I am IN LOVE with this image of Aylah. I have to admit though, I get nervous to share images like this one because I know there are people in my family circle that may be critical of it because she has makeup on and a strand of pink hair. As her Mom I am over the moon over this image because it’s so HER! We went to the WI State Fair and she got her hair sprayed pink and blue and even had an extension of pink put in with it. Then, when we went up to the family cottage our good friend and Makeup Artist Nola Kahn cam with us and did her makeup. As a 5 year old this was a blast for her! To top it off she found a feather on the beach at the lake, how much more fun can a girl have?! I’ll cherish this one forever!
Is this not the coolest wedding reception location ever?! Absolutely beautiful! I feel honored when I’m hired to shoot weddings. Honestly, I only do 5 or 10 weddings a year but I really love custom weddings like this one. I love ll of the personal touches and adorable decor! It also helped that the couple is adorable and super in LOVE! 🙂
I’m totally obsessing over garage, barn, open door lighting lately. I mean it’s just awesome! Who needs fancy lighting equipment when you can find spots like this?! Kelsey looks radiant here! Love it!
So, I ordered a collection from Kelsey’s senior session and when I got the canvas I was surprised to see a black splotch on her neck. After looking closer I saw that I actually forgot to photoshop a mosquito off of her neck. Those little buggers have been nasty this year!
Another natural elements shot! I can’t wait until I take the time to combine all of these together!
